Thom Vollenweider, a nationally-published photographer, owns and operates a photography studio in San Diego, California. Specializing in commercial, editorial, and sports photography, Vollenweider has worked throughout Europe as a Staff Photographer for United Press International.

His clients include: TIME, LIFE, New York Times, Cubic, Alaska Airlines, Four Point Sheraton, California Restaurant Association and the National Football league.

Thom has traveled over 42,000 miles, photographing celebrities such as skateboard legend Tony Hawk, recording artists Jewel, Ike Turner, Eve Seles. While working as a NFL team photographer Vollenweider is the Publisher/Editor of INSPORTS Magazine, featuring the San Diego Chargers and San Diego Padres.

In 1999, Vollenweider was featured on KSND-39TV, as well as, several local newspapers, after winning an award for “Best Sports Photography” from the World Sports Foundation, in Japan. The humorous photograph entitled “Playing the Field” shows two boys, lying on their backs, playing catch in a field of tall grass. The photograph was selected from over 12,000 entries, from 50 countries.

Currently, Thom Vollenweider is working on a project for the San Diego Hall of Champions called “Sportraits”. A portrait collection of San Diego athletes from yesterday and today.

Athletes such as baseball great Ted Williams, Hall of Fame football players Lance Alworth and Dan Fouts, and former boxing legend Archie Moore are featured in this exhibit which
is on permanent display at the San Diego Hall of Champions.
